What: Free half day workshop that gives us a deeper understanding of the systems we work in and our own place in the world, so that we can have the tools and spiritual resources to overcome/challenge racism.
Training offered by Anna White, UBC’s Director of Camp Out!
Why: As Christians our spiritual work involves working peace, love and justice in the world. That means collaborating with people who have been on the receiving end of racism and intolerance. How do we may sure we understand our own positions of power and privilege so that we do this work collaboratively and don’t reproduce the inequality we are working to overcome?
Who? White folks working or want to work on issues connected to Syrian refugees, First Nations, Truth and Reconciliation work, migrants, LGBTQ rights and more.
Should I go to this? It is easy to be worried or nervous about workshops on allyship or on racism. This is a safe and supportive environment where you can ask questions and explore. It will be related to the work you do. And it will be fun and transformational!
