The tradition of fasting during the 40 days leading up to Easter has evolved over the years and many Christians now mark Lent by “giving up” a bad habit or distracting practice.
The Give it up for the Earth! campaign consists of pledging to commit to a personal climate action, and calling for more far-reaching national climate policy. CPJ will be sending our personal pledges on postcards to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Catherine McKenna. The postcards will also call on our government to match and exceed these actions with policy changes.
We encourage you to consider making a climate justice commitment this Lenten season: Eat locally grown foods, bike to work, switch over to renewable energy — whatever steps you take, we hope you will prayerfully consider how you can focus on God while caring for his creation.
And we invite you to join us for a service of prayer on March 30th, 2017 at 7pm at Spirit of Life Lutheran Church.
